Library Advisory Board <br />March 20, 2002 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY <br />ADVISORY BOARD <br />March 20, 2002 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session <br />Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at 4:00 PM in the Library with Chairman <br />Nancee Salzman presiding. The following members were present: Peggy <br />Guthrie, Anna Davis, Sarah Gambill, Fran Neeley, John Howison, Walter <br />Williams and Nancee Salzman. Also attending were Callie Thompson, <br />Friends President, Betty Landon, Library Director, Priscilla McAnally, <br />Assistant Library Director and Dale Fleeger, NETLS Coordinator. Not <br />attending were Keith Williamson and Vicki Terlap. <br />The February 20, 2002 minutes were approved. <br />Unemployment benefits and a furniture purchase caused a negative to <br />show in the budget; however, the budget is in good shape. Books are still <br />being ordered and Betty is getting some of the book orders set up on an <br />automatic ordering system. <br />Circulation increased in February as well as the issuance of library cards. <br />Thirty-two memorials were given in February for a total of $535. <br />Children's Services presented 13 programs in January with a total of 119 <br />children and 68 adults attending. Preschool Outreach presented 15 <br />programs with 274 children attending and 57 adults. Emily Kirkman <br />attended a NETLS workshop in Maybank which showcased groups that <br />present for libraries. <br />The Adult Outreach presented programs at Heritage Care and Sterling <br />House nursing homes. There were 72 interlibrary loan transactions and 30 <br />volunteer hours. <br />Betty Landon, Library Director, introduced Dale Fleeger, the NETLS <br />Coordinator. He had spent the day evaluating facility needs in response to <br />Betty's request for this service. He shared with the Library Board needs <br />facing Paris Public Library concerning space issues. He stated that we had <br />immediate, short-term and long-term needs and shared ideas on solving <br />
