Division 9-C <br />Tile <br />_ MATERIAL (CONTINUED): GROUT for tile floors shall be <br />commercial waterproof and acid-resistant similar and egual <br />to L& M Acid-R with latex additive. Grout for wall tile <br />shall be L& M dry cure wall grout. Grout for showers <br />- shall be L& M mildew resistant mastic grout. Grout shall <br />be certified by the manufacturer as suitable for its location, <br />tinted as approved by Architect, and shall be installed <br />according to manufacturer's directions. <br />MORTAR shall have "Polycrete Plus" additive for thin set <br />mortar by L & M. <br />SHRINKAGE MESH shall be 2" x Z" mesh of 16/16 gauge wire <br />weighing not less than 13 lbs. per 100 square feet. <br />SAMPLES: Submit samples of glazed and ceramic tile for <br />Architect's selection of color and pattern. Samples shall <br />be of sufficient size to indicate color and texture. <br />PREPARATION OF SURFACES: The Tile Setter shall work with <br />the General Contractor and secure proper surfaces for the <br />reception of tile. All surfaces to receive tile shall <br />be brought to a smooth uniform surface. Concrete floors <br />shall have a uniform surface sufficiently below other floor <br />to allow for the proper installation of tile. <br />MORTAR SET FLOOR TILE: Ceramic floor tile in shower shall <br />be mortar set. <br />ADHESIVE SET TILE: All ceramic tile shall be installed <br />with water resistant organic adhesives to comply with <br />ASA A108.4 Standards. Except where called for as mortar <br />set. <br />Use primer and sealer in all places where recommended by <br />the adhes~ive manufacturer. Small areas may be applied <br />by the buttering method, spreading a thin layer of adhesive <br />uniformly over the back side of tile. Larger areas shall <br />be install by the float method covering the entire area <br />to receive tile with adhesive applied with a notched trowel. <br />If necessary trim square tile base to conform to <br />irregularities in floor. Follow the directions of the <br />adhesive manufacturer. <br />If adhesive films over before tile is applied, the dried <br />material must be removed and refloated. Tile shall be <br />pressed or beat into place with uniform joints forming <br />true horizontal and vertical lines. Remove adhesive from <br />the surface of tile and apply grout. <br />Sponge tile and polish with clean dry cloth. The use of <br />- acid cleaner will not be allowed. Do all cutting required <br />to properly fit tile to irregular wall surfaces. <br />TILE FOR REPAIRS: The Contractor shall leave the following <br />material for future repair. 1 box quarry tile, 10 pieces <br />glaze wall tile, 2 sq. ft. of ceramic floor tile, and <br />6 pieces of tile base. <br />4 (P <br />
