Division 9-C <br />Tile <br />TILE WORK <br />GENERAL: Furnish all labor and material to install all <br />tile as shown or scheduled on plans or as described herein. <br />__Material stored on the job shall be stacked and protected <br />and located not to interfere with other work. Cartons <br />shall be kept dry. All tile work shall be done by skilled <br />tile setters in accordance with the Tile Council of America <br />guide lines. <br />GUARANTEE: As called for in the General Requirements, <br />this contractor shall guarantee the work of this division <br />to be free from defects in material and workmanship. <br />SCOPE: This division includes all floor tile, wall tile, <br />wainscots, and tile base as shown or scheduled on plans <br />or as described herein. Methods of application are herein- <br />after described. <br />COOPERATION WITH OTHER TRADES: Cooperate with other trades <br />in the installation of their work. Before starting, examine <br />the surface to receive tile and notify the Architect of <br />any condition which will prevent satisfactory work. <br />The installation of any material shall be construed as <br />the acceptance of the surface as satisfactory. All floor <br />drains shall be made to drain before tile is installed. <br />All shower drains shall be leak-proof before tile is <br />installed. Cooperate with the Plumber and verify that <br />drains will work before tile work is done. <br />WORK BY OTHERS: Most toilet and bath accessories are <br />furnished under Division 10 and installed under Tile work. <br />MATERIAL: All tile shall be standard grade to meet ANSI <br />#A137-1. <br />GLAZED WALL TILE: shall be equal to American Olean and <br />shall be 4-1/4" x 4-1/4", bright and matte glazed, color <br />shall be selected by the Architect. Provide all required <br />trim including bullnose 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" cap and corner, <br />coves, and cove base to tile. Trim shall be for thin-set <br />installation on walls and floor, and mortar installation <br />in shower. <br />CERAMIC MOSAIC TILE: shall be equal to American Olean <br />and shall be 2" x 211. Color as selected by the Architect <br />from the "A" price. Provide all required trim, including <br />coved based with outside corners and cap trim with outside <br />corners. <br />_ ADHESIVE shall comply with Commercial Standards CS 181. <br />Each container shall bear the approval Hallmark showing <br />compliance with the above standard. <br />PRIMER AND SEALER All surfaces to receive adhesive shall <br />be primered as recommended by the adhesive manufacturer <br />to avoid the extraction of plasticizers and oils from the <br />adhesive. <br /> <br />
