Division 9-B <br />' Drywall <br />GYPSUM BOARD APPLICATION (CONTINUED): All fastening shall <br />~ be dimpled into the surface of the board and fasteners <br />must pull tight. Secure board at top.and bottom edge. <br />No vertical joints shall occur closer than 12" from door <br />- or window jamb. Provide control joints as required, in . <br />no case shall walls exceed 30'-0" without a control joint. <br />Stagger joints each side of studs. <br />INSPECTION: No wall board shall be installed until all <br />studs, hangers, insulation, etc., is in place and approved <br />by the Architect. <br />GYPSUM BOARD CEILINGS: Where finish Schedule calls for <br />gypsum board ceiling, same shall be applied to Chicago <br />Metallic Corp. #630 suspension system with furring 16" <br />O.C. Hanger wires shall be spaced 4'-0" o.c. maximum and <br />shall be 8 gauge. Provide continuous backing for fasteners <br />on the edges of each sheet including wall and ceiling <br />intersections. <br />GYPSUM BOARD JOINT TREATMENT AND TEXTURED FINISH: All . <br />joints in gypsum board shall be bedded and taped and all <br />exposed surfaces finished in a texture. Install Perf-A-Tape <br />in accordance with direction of manufacturer. This portion <br />of the work shall be done by skilled mechanics. <br />- All joints must be brought to a true and uniform surface. ' <br />The amount of joint work required will depend upon the <br />framing and erection of gypboard. Use a steel trowel and <br />extend mud as much as 12" from joint to provide a smooth <br />uniform surface. The joint system shall be inspected under <br />good light and approved before any texture or wall covering <br />is applied. <br />Mask windows, ducts, and surfaces not to receive texture. <br />Surfaces to receive texture shAll have one coat applied <br />to the joints only and brushed out well at the edges. <br />After this coat is dry, apply one heavy coat of texture <br />to entire surface, finishing in a light stipple. Surfaces <br />to receive vinyl wall covering shall have finished joints <br />and a smooth uniform surface without texture. <br />CLEANING: Clean drywall and adjoining surfaces including <br />the edges of casings, doors, windows, floors, etc., and <br />repair any damage from such cause. Wall board shall be <br />approved before application of paint. <br />
