Division 9-H Painting <br />PROTECTION AND CLEANING: Protect all floors, walls, and <br />' other surfaces from paint damage over spray of doors. <br />From time to time as the work progresses, the Painter shall <br />remove all rubbish and accumulation resulting from this <br />•_work. Upon completion, he shall remove all paint and stains <br />from glass, floors, and other surfaces not intended to <br />receive paint. <br />Glass will be washed by others, but the Painter shall remove <br />all paint, texture, and stains. Aluminum shall be cleaned <br />with naptha and rinsed with mild soap and water. No abrasive, <br />caustic, or acid cleaning agent shall be used. Do not <br />spray texture into electrical or air conditioning devices, <br />boxes, or ducts. <br />MATERIAL: While the products of Sherwin-Williams are <br />specified, equal products of other manufacture may be sub- <br />stituted provided the approval of the Architect is secured <br />for each and every item changed. Before starting work, <br />the Painter shall submit to the Architect a complete list <br />of the material he intends to use, and no material shall <br />be delivered to the premises until such list has been <br />approved. <br />Paints shall be mixed and applied according to manufacturer's <br />directions, using only such thinners as recommended. <br />- Material shall.be delivered in the original containers <br />with labels intact and seals unbroken. Paint will be <br />delivered to the premises in the approved color, using <br />colors with such tinting colors as required. <br />COLORS AND SAMPLES: Colors shall be selected by the Archtect. <br />Before any painting is done, the Architect will furnish the <br />Contractor with a schedule showing the location of the <br />various colors. <br />The Painter shall prepare samples as required until?such <br />colors and textures are satisfactory. When approved, he <br />shall prepare 12" x 12" samples of each. Samples of wood <br />finish shall be provided on wood to be used. All others <br />on gypboard. The finished work shall conform to samples <br />in both color and texture. <br />METHOD OF APPLICATION: Spray painting will be allowed <br />on special approval and structure. Where possible, paint <br />shall be applied with a roller. All trim work shall be <br />brush painted. <br />SCHEDULE OF FINISHES: The following list covers the tyPe <br />of material and the number of coats required. It does <br />not indicate color. Should the Painter discover any omissions <br />or apparent discrepancies, he shall consult the Architect be- <br />fore submitting a bid. The following trade names and catalog <br />numbers are taken from the catalog of Sherwin-Williams Promar <br />Line of Paint. <br />S3 <br />
