MINUTES OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS <br />July 8, 2013 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met for a regular session at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, <br />July 8, 2013, at the City Council Chamber, 107 E. Kaufman, Paris, Texas. <br />Present: Mayor: A.J. Hashmi <br />Council Members: Aaron Jenkins; Billie Lancaster; John Wright; <br />Richard Grossnickle; Matt Frierson; and Cleonne <br />Drake <br />City Staff: Gene Anderson, Interim City Manager; Kent <br />McIlyar, City Attorney; Janice Ellis, City Clerk; <br />Shawn Napier, City Engineer; Larry Wright, Fire <br />Chief; and Bob Hundley, Police Chief; Doug <br />Harris, Utilities Director; and Sandy Collard, HR <br />Manager <br />Opening Asenda <br />1. Call meeting to order. <br />Mayor Hashmi called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />2. Invocation. <br />Gene Anderson gave the invocation. <br />3. Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Council Member Grossnickle led the pledge. <br />4. Citizens' Forum. <br />Mayor Hashmi asked that those wishing to voice their opinion on agenda item 18 to <br />please wait until that item was reached on the agenda. <br />Michael Gladfelter, 1345 S.E. 6th Street — Council is going to be faced with the decision <br />of whether or not to hire local contractors and pointed out that the courthouse was still leaking <br />and there was a bulking floor at the new PJC building, both of which used local contractors. He <br />said he was opposed to using contractors simply because they were local and urged Council to <br />get the best for Paris. <br />
