WHEREAS, the City contracted with ETTL Engineers and Consultants to additionally perform an asbestos survey at the City Hall/old Central Fire Station building, and they have likewise advised the City of Paris that asbestos has been located in certain accessible areas of this building as well; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris finds and determines that the performance of asbestos removal at the UARCO building and the City Hall/old Central Fire Station building would be in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the City Manager and the City Engineer are hereby authorized to solicit proposals for the performance of asbestos removal at the "UARCO" building, which will be converted to a law enforcement center for police, court, and jail facilities, and the City Hall/old Central Fire Station building, Section 3. That, upon receipt of said proposals, the City will comply with State law regarding pursuit of the negotiation of a contract for said services. Section 4. That, following negotiation of said contract, the City Manager and the City Engineer will present a contract to the City Council for approval to perform the aforesaid asbestos removal. Section 5. That funds for said asbestos removal from the "UARCO" building shall be taken from Combination Tax and Revenue Certificates of Obligation, Series 2002. Section 6. That funds for said asbestos removal from the City Hall/old Central Fire Station building shall be taken from other funds. Section 7.
