- PARIS POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />- ~ BACKGROUND / MAKE - UP <br /> <br /> On January 21st, 1948 the City Council of the City of Paris passed <br /> ordinance #1164 adopting Civil Service for all Police and Firefighters <br /> for the City of Paris. Paris, Texas remains a Civil Service city and is <br /> governed by State Law under Chapter 143 of the Texas Local <br /> Government Code. This elective action brought about the "modern era" <br /> of municipal law enforcement in Paris. <br /> <br /> The following is the current allocation of persons employed by the City <br /> of Paris at the Paris Police Department: <br /> <br /> Total Number of Employees: 88 <br /> <br /> Sworn Officer Positions: 65 <br /> Emergency Dispatchers: 12 <br /> Secretaries: 2 <br /> Clerks: 5 <br /> Animal Control Officers: 3 <br /> Custodian: 1 <br /> <br /> Also: Reserve Officers / Volunteers: 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
