MINUTES <br />Paris Municipal Band Commission <br /> <br />A meeting of the members of the Paris Municipal Band Commission was held on <br />Monday, March 17, 2003, at 12 noon, in the executive boardroom of the Lamar <br />County Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br />PRESENT <br /> <br />Albert Nichol <br />James Brunette <br /> <br />ABSENT <br /> <br />Edmond Castleberry <br /> <br />Also present was: <br /> <br />Linda Suarez <br />Randy Bunch <br /> <br />Tom Neugent, Paris Municipal Band Director <br />Terry Townsend, Director of Public Works, City of Paris <br />Gene Anderson, Finance Director, City of Paris <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairman Randy Bunch in the absence <br />of Chairman Edmond Castleberry. <br /> <br />As the first order of business, the minutes from the previous meeting held on <br />January 6, 2003, were unanimously approved as submitted on a motion by <br />James Brunette, seconded by Albert Nichol. <br /> <br />City Finance Director Gene Anderson outlined briefly the City of Paris' <br />purchasing procedures. Mr. Anderson was very gracious in assuring the <br />Commission that he will assist in reimbursing Band Director Tom Neugent for <br />expenses within the Band Commission budget and provide a tax exemption <br />certificate for use with purchases. Specific items discussed were new music, <br />more chairs and instrument repair. <br /> <br />On a motion by James Brunette, seconded by Albert Nichol, the Commission <br />authorized the purchase of 26 more chairs to accommodate band members <br />during performances. Terry Townsend will order the chairs from the same <br />vendor used the last time chairs were ordered. <br /> <br />Tom Neugent will also purchase no more than $1,000 worth of music to be used <br />this upcoming season. <br /> <br />Discussion was then held regarding the band director's taxes. Mr. Anderson <br />stated that the City of Paris paid the social security taxes for the previous band <br />director as he was considered as a part-time employee of the City.
