Community Profile <br />The City of Paris is: <br />• Located in north east Texas in Lamar County <br />• Approximately 38 miles north of Sulphur Springs, 95 miles west of <br />Texarkana and 15 miles south of the Oklahoma State Line <br />• Neighbored by Clarksville, Bonham, Cooper, Powderly and the Caddo <br />National Grassland <br />• A total of 44.4 square miles <br />• An average elevation of 600 feet above mean sea level <br />The City of Paris' climate and average rainfall do not pose significant barriers to outdoor <br />activities due to the fact that the weather is generally mild and any extreme changes are short in <br />duration. <br />• Temperatures range from a mean minimum in January of 34 degrees Fahrenheit to a mean <br />maximum in July of 95 degrees Fahrenheit. <br />• The average first freeze is mid - November and the average last freeze is mid March <br />• The average rainfall is 47.82 inches per year <br />• The basic soil type is black clay, although much of the northeast section of Paris is occupied <br />by shallow limestone. <br />Trail Museum at Heritage Park <br />Gob City of Paris Parks, Recreation & Open Space Master Plan 2013 -2023 <br />Page 3 <br />
