ERI Consulting, Inc. <br /> <br /> 1.1.22 Asbestos Project Manager (also known as Owner's Competent Person) <br /> An individual qualified by virtue of experience and education, <br /> designated as the Owner's Representative, and responsible for <br /> overseeing the asbestos abatement project. For public project within <br /> the state of Texas, this person shall be licensed as a project <br /> manager through the Texas Department of Health asbestos program. See <br /> Section 4.3 in Technical Specifications. <br /> <br /> 1.1.23 Asbestos-related Activity - The disturbance (whether intentional or <br /> unintentional), removal, encapsulation, or enclosure of asbestos, <br /> including preparations or final clearance, the performance of <br /> asbestos surveys, the development of management plans, and response <br /> actions, asbestos project design, the collection or analysis of <br /> asbestos samples, monitoring for airborne asbestos, bidding for a <br /> contract for any of these activities, or any other activity required <br /> to be licensed under the Texas Asbestos Health Protection Act. <br /> <br /> 1.1.24 Asbestos Removal - Any action that dislodges, strips, or otherwise <br /> takes away asbestos -containing material (ACM). <br /> <br /> 1.1.25 Asbestos Survey An inspection of a building or facility to <br /> determine the location, quantity, and condition of asbestos- <br /> containing material (ACM) therein by taking samples for analysis or <br /> by visual inspection. <br /> <br /> 1.1.26 Assistant Secretary The Assistant Secretary of Labor for <br /> Occupational Safety and Health, U.S. Department of labor, or <br /> designee. <br /> <br /> 1.1.27 ASTM - American Society for Testing and Materials, 1916 Race Street, <br /> Philadelphia, PA 19103. <br /> <br /> 1.1.28 Authorized person Any person authorized by the employer and <br /> required by work duties to be present in regulated area. <br /> <br /> 1.1.29 Authorized visitor The Building Owner (and any designated <br /> representatives) and any representative of a regulatory or other <br /> agency having jurisdiction over the project. <br /> <br /> 1.1.30 Board - The Texas Board of Health. <br /> <br /> 1.1.31 Building Owner - The owner of record of any public building or any <br /> person who exercises control over a building to the extent that said <br /> person contracts for or permits renovation to or demolition of said <br /> building. <br /> <br /> 1.1.32 CFR - The Code of Federal Regulations. <br /> <br />-- 4/11/03 26 <br /> <br /> <br />
