ERI Consulting, Inc. <br /> <br /> 3.1.5.8 The Contractor shall supply U-Tube manometers needed to <br /> accurately measure the differential pressure for each <br /> containment or enclosure. <br /> <br /> 3.1.6 Once constructed and reinforced as necessary, with negative pressure <br /> ventilation units in operation as required, test enclosure for <br /> leakage utilizing smoke tubes. Repair or reconstruct as needed. <br /> <br /> 3.1.7 Clearly identify and maintain emergency and fire exits from the work <br /> area. <br /> <br /> 3.1.8 Remove, clean and enclose in polyethylene the ceiling mounted objects <br /> such as lights and other items that may interfere with the ~batement <br /> process and were not previously cleaned and sealed off. Utilize <br /> localized spraying of amended water and/or HEPA vacuums to reduce <br /> fiber dispersal during the removal of these fixtures. <br /> <br /> 3.1.9 Removal of building components <br /> <br /> 3.1.9.1 After isolation of work area as described in previous sections <br /> and initiation of negative pressure ventilation, remove <br /> ceiling tiles or panels within the work area carefully. If <br /> these are to be reused, vacuum them with a HEPA filtered <br /> vacuum cleaner and carefully damp sponge and wrap cleaned <br /> tiles or panels in 6 mil polyethylene sheeting and seal with <br /> tape. Store as designated by Owner's Representative. If <br /> tiles or panels are to be discarded it is not necessary to <br /> clean them, but wrap in a similar fashion and stage for <br /> disposal in the waste container pass-out airlock. <br /> <br /> 3.1.9.2 Where suspended ceiling T-grid components must be removed to <br /> perform the abatement, H~PA vacuum and wet-sponge each piece <br /> after removal from hangers. Wrap clean grid pieces in 6-mil <br /> polyethylene sheeting and seal with tape. Store as designated <br /> by Owner's Representative or in waste staging area if <br /> designated for disposal. <br /> <br /> 3.1.9.3 When removal of ceiling grid suspension system is not <br /> necessary for accessibility to the asbestos containing <br /> materials, leave the system in place and clean properly <br /> following completion of abatement. <br /> <br /> 3.1.9.4 Remove plaster/drywall ceilings including lath, furring <br /> channel system, wire mesh, ties, clips, screws, nails and <br /> other accessory items as directed in Section 1.1 "Scope of <br /> Work" and dispose of as asbestos contaminated waste~terial. <br /> As work progresses, spray ceiling materials and debris with <br /> amended water to keep wet until containerized for disposal. <br /> <br /> 3.1.10 Commencement of work shall not occur until: <br /> <br />-- 4/xl/03 64 <br /> <br /> <br />
