This program shall be posted in the clean room of the <br /> worker decontamination enclosure system. <br /> <br />3.3.2.2 Workers shall be provided with personally issued, individually <br /> identified (marked with waterproOf designations) respirators. <br /> Respirators must be cleaned and sterilized following each <br /> period of wear. <br /> <br />3.3.2.3 Respirators shall be selected that meet the requirements in <br /> OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1101 (h) and provide protection inside the <br /> respirator to a level of 0.05 fibers /cc based on personal <br /> breathing zone air samples. Owner's Representative may <br /> require type "C" air supplier in pressure demand mode <br /> initially and allow downgrading based on personal sample <br /> results to provide levels at or below 0.05 f/cc or less inside <br /> the mask. The NIOSH/MSHA Type "C" air-supplied respirators in <br /> pressure demand mode with full facepieces and HEPA filtered <br /> disconnect protection or emergency air bottle shall be <br /> provided to all full-shift asbestos abatement workers. <br /> Powered air-purifying respirators equipped with HEPA <br /> filtration and full facepieces may be utilized for inspection <br /> <br /> or repair work of less than one (1) hour duration. (See <br /> Section 2.2.1.2). <br /> <br />3.3.2.4 Fit testing <br /> <br /> 3.3.2.4.1 Workers must perform positive and negative air pressure <br /> fit tests each time a respirator is put on, whenever the <br /> respirator design so permits. Powered air-purifying <br /> respirators shall be tested for adequate flow as specified <br /> by the manufacturer. <br /> <br /> 3.3.2.4.2 Workers shall be given a qualitative fit test in <br /> accordance with procedures detailed in 29 CFR 1926.1101. <br /> Half-face air purifying respirators may be fit tested by <br /> Qualitative protocol. Other types shall be tested by <br /> Quantitative protocol where required. <br /> <br /> 3.3.2.4.3 Documentation of adequate respirator fit must be provided <br /> to the Owner's Representative. <br /> <br /> 3.3.2.5 No one wearing a beard shall be permitted to don a respirator <br /> and enter the work area. <br /> <br /> 3.3.2.6 Additional respirators (minimum of 2 of each type) and <br /> training on their donning and use must be available at the <br /> work site for authorized visitors who may be required to enter <br /> the work area. <br /> <br /> <br />
