SCOPE OF WORK <br /> <br /> In the Treasury, Postal Service and General Government Appropriation Bill for the Fiscal <br /> Year ending September 30, 2003, ATF was directed to continue operation of the <br /> G.R.E.A.T. Program, which originally started as PROJECT OUTREACH in the Fiscal <br /> Year 1992 appropriation. G.R.E.A.T. is a project that uses the skills ofATF, State'and <br /> local law enforcement personnel, as we11 as individuals from community and civic groups, <br /> to develop a program that educates youth about the dangers associated with joining street <br /> gangs and engaging in youth violence. G.R.E.A.T. consists of three major phases: <br /> <br /> Phase I School-Based Education <br /> Phase II Summer Component <br /> Phase 1Ii Family Component <br /> <br />4. COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT PLAN <br /> <br /> During the period of performance the G.R.E.A.T. Program will be implemented and <br /> continued as follows: <br /> <br /> A. RESPONSIBILITIES OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY NAME <br /> <br /> The Paris Police Department, will participate in the G.R.E.A.T. Program and related <br /> activities as specified below: <br /> <br /> (1) Phase I - The LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY NAME shall arrange with local <br /> area middle/junior high schools, to schedule 13 one period classes, (for those agencies <br /> whose officers have been re-certified in the new G.R.E.A.T. Curriculum. All others <br /> should be recertified in the new 13-week G.R.E.A.T. curriculum.) to instruct a <br /> minimum of enter amount (as indicated in the application for funding) students per <br /> year, on the dangers of gangs in accordance with the G.R.E.A.T. Program lesson <br /> plans. Classes will be taught in an appropriate education time slot as determined by <br /> local school officials. These classroom lessons are to be presented during the school <br /> year of the performance period of the Agreement as specified in Section 2 of this <br /> Agreement. The lessons will be taught to middle/junior high school students within <br /> the Paris Police Department's school system. <br /> <br /> The Paris Police Department is required to order graduation certificates from the <br /> G.R.E.A.T. Program Office for student participants of the program. Certificates are <br /> provided free of charge and should be ordered at least 8 weeks prior to graduation. <br /> <br /> 3. <br /> <br /> <br />
