Becki Norment <br />Claudia Hunt <br />The motion carried 4-2. <br />B. Hunter and Karol Lyn Moore, property owners of the building on the corner of Lamar and <br />2nd N. E. presented a rendering and proposed color samples of their proposed retail development in the <br />above building. After discussion, a motion was made by Sue Lancaster that the Certificate of <br />Appropriateness be granted with the condition that the proposed fabric awning proposed for the face of <br />the existing building perimeter walkway canopy be omitted from the application. Paul Denney seconded <br />the motion and the motion carried unanimously. The Moores were encouraged to resubmit awning <br />options at a later Commission meeting for future consideration. <br />C. Rodney Flippen and Armand Frank appeared before the Commission on behalf of the <br />Salvation Army to request a Certificate of Appropriateness for their proposed thrift store building. At the <br />last meeting, several items were questioned by Commission members. Mr. Flippen clarified several items <br />for the Commission. He discussed proposed signage and presented a rendering of the signs. He noted <br />that these signs would be illuminated with floodlights. He explained that the building would be <br />constructed with masonry walls on three sides (North, West & East) and that the South wall would back <br />up to the existing Salvation Army building. The roof is to slant toward the existing building. Chairman <br />Starrett called for a motion to approve. Becki Norment made the motion and Jerry Raper seconded.
