Regular City Council Meeting <br />February 9, 2004 <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />Preservation Commission discussed the possibility of having a public hearing <br />with the Historic Preservation Commission, the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission, and the City Council, for informational purposes, not only for <br />these groups but also for the public. Mayor Fendley said it would be good to <br />schedule a public meeting to get the information out to the people. Mayor <br />Fendley suggested that a public meeting be scheduled sometime within the next <br />30-45 days. <br /> <br />Resolution 2004-021, ordering the regular municipal election for the City of <br />Paris, Paris, Texas, to be held on the third Saturday in May, same being the 15th <br />day of May, 2004, between the hours of 7:00 a.m and 7:00 p.m., by the qualified <br />voters of Districts 1, 2, 3, and 6 of the City of Paris, with Early Voting for the <br />same being conducted in the City Hall Annex West from the 28th day of April, <br />2004, through the 11 th day of May 2004, Monday through Friday, between the <br />hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., for the purpose of electing the Council Members <br />from each of said Districts to serve as members of the City Council for the <br />ensuing two years, was presented. <br /> <br />Councilman Bell made a motion to approve the resolution. The motion was <br />seconded by Mayor Pro Tem McCarthy and carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br /> <br />Resolution 2004-022, ordering a city-wide Special Election to be held in the <br />City of Paris on the third Saturday in May, 2004, the same being the 15th day <br />of May, 2004, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on the question of <br />exempting the City of Paris and the Paris Fire Fighters Relief and Retirement <br />Fund from the application of Article XVI, Section 66 of the Texas Constitution, <br />entitled ~Protected Benefits Under Certain Public Retirement Systems," <br />prescribing the form of the ballot; permitting only resident qualified voters to <br />vote; providing for Early Voting; providing for an Early Voting Ballot Board; <br />providing notice of election, making other findings and provisions related to the <br />subject, was read. <br /> <br />City Attorney Schenk indicated that, although it would be held at the same time <br />as the City Council Election, it was a separate election, on a separate ballot and <br />would be city-wide. Councilman Weekly made a motion to approve the <br /> <br /> <br />
