<br />Recruitment Profile <br />City of Sherman <br />City Manager <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />Required Education and Experience <br /> <br />The successful candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in business or public administration, po- <br />litical science or a related field, A graduate degree in business or public administration or a re- <br />lated field is preferred. Four to five years services as a city manager, assistant/deputy city man- <br />ager or the equivalent in a comparable or larger community is sought. Candidates with service as <br />a City Manager, Assistant/Deputy City Manager in an equivalent or larger municipal organiza- <br />tion, or service as a department head in a large, complex municipal organization will be consid- <br />ered. Candidates with municipal management experience in other communities with challenges <br />similar to those of Sherman may be considered on a case-by-case basis. The candidate's back- <br />ground and experience should include a diverse exposure to all aspects of a full service city. <br /> <br /> <br />:".'-~~ <br /> <br /> <br />Pecan Grove Fire Station #3 <br /> <br />The successful candidate will have a demon- <br />strated track record in the development and <br />maintenance of a strong customer service fo- <br />cus in the delivery of municipal services. <br />The Sherman City Manager should be ex- <br />perienced in the management of and be <br />technically grounded in all aspects of <br />municipal operations. While strong technical <br />competence is needed, the successful can- <br />didate should be creative, articulate and <br />focused on implementing City Council <br />policies and directions for the community, <br /> <br />~~. <br /> <br />Particular skill, expertise and experience in <br />cost containment strategies and financial pol- <br />icy alternatives for the governing body are essential, along with demonstrated experience with al- <br />ternative, creative public financing strategies. He/she should posses a track record of success in <br />economic and community development projects.
