<br />Recruitment Profile <br />City of Cedar Hill <br />City Manager <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />zation, The current vacancy was created by the resignation of the incumbent after seventeen <br />years of service. <br /> <br />The City of Cedar Hill provides a full complement of traditional municipal services including a <br />police department, fire protection (combination career and volunteer), engineering and public <br />works, street maintenance, building inspection and code enforcement services, planning and zon- <br />ing, library services, recreation, operation and maintenance of parks and City-owned facilities, <br />municipal court, personnel and tax collection. For the current fiscal year, the General Fund <br />Budget totals $12.3 million, providing a workforce of 190 full-time employees. <br /> <br />Among the many important organizational challenges and opportunities awaiting the next City <br />Manager are: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Leadership in managing growth pressures to ensure long tel1ll quality of life for the citi- <br />zens of Cedar Hill, providing diversification of the tax base to support municipal services <br />at the lowest possible cost to the residents, to include selective attraction of commercial <br />and light industrial development that complements the residential character of the com- <br />munity while supporting service costs <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Implementation and execution of a $32 million package of infrastructure improvements <br />passed in the 1998 bond election, with projects being completed on time and within <br />budget. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Finalization and implementation of the revised Comprehensive MasterPlan, recently de- <br />veloped with active community participation and involvement. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Leadership in staff development and training to ensure all customers of the City are <br />treated in a straightforward, highly responsive manner. <br /> <br />The Position <br /> <br />In undertaking a search for the next City Manager, the City Council has established specific <br />search criteria, which are described briefly below. <br /> <br />Education - The successful candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in business or public ad- <br />ministration, political science, engineering or other closely related field. Candidates with gradu- <br />ate education in public or business administration or a related field will receive favorable consid- <br />eration, <br /> <br />Experience - A minimum of five years progressively responsible, executive level experience in <br />municipal management is required, with a diverse, general background in all aspects of city gov- <br />ernment and significant, direct responsibility for management of municipal operations, In addi- <br />tion to experience as a City Manager or comparable chief administrator, service as an Assistant <br />
