<br />Recruitment Profile <br />City of Cedar Hill <br />City Manager <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />Leadership qualities must include the ability to anticipate problems, identify alternative courses <br />of action, and prepare proactive recommendations and to defend and support those recommenda- <br />tions before the City Council. As a manager, the successful candidate will place a high degree of <br />emphasis on accountability. The Manager should have the ability to effectively delegate author- <br />ity and responsibility while maintaining appropriate levels of operational control. He/she should <br />believe in setting clear goals for the organization and reporting progress to the City Council on a <br />regular basis. The City Council expects a positive example of competence, professionalism, en- <br />ergy and work ethic to the organization and community at large. The City Manager will reside in <br />Cedar Hill and be involved and visible in the community, actively involved in the life of the city, <br />both on and off the job. <br /> <br />Other required personal characteristics include: <br /> <br />. Outstanding oral and written communications skills <br /> <br />. Initiative, resourcefulness and creativity, with the ability to anticipate and solve prob- <br />lems, <br /> <br />. An understanding of the political process without becoming personally involved in poli- <br />tics. <br /> <br />. Technical and computer literacy, with an appreciation for the role technology can play in <br />increasing productivity and accountability within the organization. <br /> <br />. Personal and professional integrity of the highest order. <br /> <br />The Compensation <br /> <br />Base salary and other compensation/benefits are negotiable, commensurate with qualifications <br />and experience. A very competitive base salary is anticipated, plus a car allowance, The City of <br />Cedar Hill offers a competitive benefits package which includes TMRS (7% level effective <br />1/1/2000), health, life and dental insurance paid for all employees and their dependents, and a de- <br />ferred compensation program. <br /> <br />The City Council will provide reimbursement of relocation expenses to Cedar Hill for the new <br />City Manager and will consider a severance-based employment agreement with the successful <br />candidate. <br />
