City of Paris Safety Committee Meeting July 1, 2008 City Council Conference Room Call meeting to order @ 3:00 pm. • Roll Call: Present: Priscilla McAnally, Todd Varner, Darrel Dickerson, Dale Maberry, Mike Wade, Amy Samis, Melba Harris, Kellie Newman, Tim Moore Absent: Kevin Carruth, Matt Birch • Last meeting minutes approved with the correction of Kellie Newman's name (misspell) Reviewed 1St report of injuries June 2008 3 Report Only 6 Medical Reports (4 of 6 with no time lost) Year to Date 24 Just for notification 18 Claims made to Workman's Comp 42 Reports since October 1, 2007 Safety Committee will ask for City Employees to help develop a motto for the Safety Committee. The flyer will go out in the July 18th paychecks. Winner will receive a $25 gift certificate. (gift certificate was later raised to $50 by City Mngr.) Deadline for entries will be August 15th. They can be turned into Todd, Priscilla, or any of the safety committee members. We will look and vote on them to determine the winner at the September 2, 2008 meeting. Priscilla advised the committee that the members did not have to have an alternate to fill in for them when they are unavailable for a meeting, however, they could have an alternate if they wished. The alternates names are as follows: Jason Barber's alternate: Josh Hart Darrel Dickerson's alternate: Danny White Dale Maberry's alternate: Deputy Vickers Amy Samis' alternate: Bill Loranger There was a request for CPR training from the Safety Committee. Kellie Newman advised she would get with instructors regarding the training. EMS has 5 instructors and there can be 6 students to each instructor. The course is approximately 4 -6 hours. There are no text books, it is video oriented. Todd suggested the department heads be notified when and where the training will be.
