MINUTES <br />TRAFFIC COMMISSION <br />City of Paris <br />The Traffic Commission met in regular session, Tuesday, August 5, 2003, at <br />5:15 P.M. in the municipal court room with the following members present: <br />1. Ed Ellis <br />2. Ricky Mackey <br />3. George Kimbrough <br />4. George Fisher <br />5. Ed Seidle <br />6. Jon McFadden <br />The city staff was represented by Assistant Police Chief James Barnett. <br />There being no chairman or co- chairman present the meeting was conducted <br />by Assistant Chief Barnett by unanimous consent of members present. <br />The Minutes of the July 1, 2003, meeting were adopted after correcting the <br />spelling of Ricky Mackey's name. <br />The first item of business was a request for Stop Signs on Simpson Street at <br />SE 26' Street, stopping East and West bound traffic on Simpson at SE 26t'', <br />making this a Four Way Stop intersection. <br />Mike Atkins, phone number 903 737 -9737, appeared to speak in favor of the <br />request. He said the four way stop is needed due to speeding vehicles, <br />proximity to Crockett School, street curves on each side of the intersection <br />and accidents down the street from the intersection. <br />Assistant Chief Barnett said that after checking with the city engineer and <br />having a traffic count done, checking police records and learning there were <br />no reported accidents at the intersection during the past two (2) years, that <br />none of the state recommended warrants for a four way stop are met. There <br />are stop signs stopping North and South bound traffic on 26t'' at Simpson. <br />After discussion Ed Ellis, reluctantly, made a motion to recommend denial of <br />
