MINUTES <br />TRAFFIC COMMISSION <br />Tuesday, February 3, 1998 <br />5:15 o'clock P.M. <br />Council Room - City Hall <br />The Traffic Commission met in regular session, Tuesday, February 3, 1998 with the following <br />members present: <br />1. Charles Thompson <br />2. Mary Lane <br />3.George Robinson <br />4. Edward Ellis <br />S. Rickey Mackey <br />6. Pam Campbell <br />The city staff was represented by Assistant Chief of Police James Barnett. <br />Chairman George Robinson called the meeting to order at 5:15 P.M. <br />The Minutes of the November 4, 1997 meeting were approved as submitted. <br />The first item for consideration was a request for Stop Signs at the intersection of 1St Street N.E. <br />and East Oak, stopping North and South bound traffic on 1" N.E. at Oak. Assistant Chief Barnett <br />explained that Stop Signs had been placed there, temporarily, by The Chief of Police due to <br />complaints from residents of the area concerning trucks from a business in the area and other <br />traffic at the intersection almost wrecking since no one knew who has the right -of -way. <br />After discussion, Ed Ellis made the motion to leave the signs there. Charles Thompsons <br />seconded and the motion carried 6 ayes to 0 nays. <br />The next item was a request for Stop Signs at the intersection of 1 lth Street N.E. and East <br />Hickory Street, stopping North and South bound traffic on 1 It' N.E. at Hickory. A resident of <br />the area requested these signs due to this being an open, uncontrolled intersection and she said <br />she had witnessed vehicles almost collide several times in the past. <br />Charles Thompson made a motion to place the Stop Signs as requested. Ed Ellis seconded and <br />the motion carried 6 ayes to 0 nays. <br />The last item for consideration was a request for a Stop Sign at the intersection of West Neagle <br />and 4t'' Street S.W. stopping West bound traffic on Neagle at 4th S.W. This request came from <br />B.A. Huddleston, Director of Public Works for the City of Paris, and was based on reports he had <br />from his crewmen concerning this intersection. <br />After discussion Rickey Mackey made a motion to place the signs as requested. Mary Lane <br />;;eosslarnett onded and the motion rried 6 ayes to 0 nays. <br />
