MINUTES <br />TRAFFIC COMMISSION <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />TUESDAY, APRIL 9,1996 <br />5:15 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />COUNCIL ROOM - CITY HALL <br />PARIS,TEXAS <br />The Traffic Commission met in special session Tuesday, April 9,1996 <br />with the following members present: <br />1. Ed Ellis 4. Mary Lane <br />2. Pam Campbell 5. Emily White <br />3. George Robinson 6. Ricky Mackey <br />The City Staff was represented by Assistant Police Chief James Barnett. <br />Chairman George Robinson called the meeting to order at 5:17 P.M. <br />The minutes of the February 6,1996 meeting were approved as submitted. <br />A request for a traffic signal at North Main Street (U.S. 271 North) <br />and Stone Avenue was considered. Assistant Chief Barnett explained <br />that the intersection was studied by the Texas Department of Trans- <br />portation and does meet the warrants they require. This signal is <br />to be installed and funded by Tx DOT. North Lamar school superin- <br />tendent James Dawson appeared and spoke in favor of the request. <br />After discussion, Ed Ellis made a motion to recommend the installation <br />of a traffic actuated signal at North Main Street and Stone Avenue. <br />Ricky Mackey seconded and the motion carried 6 ayes to o nays. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 5:21 P.M. <br />James Barnett <br />Assistant Chief of Police <br />
