MINUTES <br />TRAFFIC COMMISSION <br />Tuesday, September 5, 1995 <br />5:15 o'clock P.M. <br />Council Room - City Hall <br />Paris, Texas <br />The Traffic Commission met in regular session Tuesday, September 5, 1995 with the <br />following members present: <br />1. Edward Ellis <br />2. Billy Trenado <br />3. George Robinson <br />4. David Gilbert <br />5. Ricky Mackey <br />6. Mary Lane <br />The City Staff was represented by Assistant Police Chief James Barnett. <br />Chairman Billy Trenado called the meeting to order at 5:18 P.M. <br />The minutes of the May 2, 1995 meeting were approved as submitted. <br />An election was held for a new Chairman. Ed Ellis nominated George Robinson and <br />Mary Lane seconded the nomination. There being no other nominations a vote was cal- <br />led and George Robinson was elected Chairman 6 ayes to 0 nays. <br />Chairman George Robinson took the chair and called for the election of a Co- Chairman. <br />Ed Ellis nominated Ricky Mackey and Billy Trenado seconded. There being no further <br />nominations a vote was called with Ricky Mackey being elected Co- Chairman 6 ayes to <br />0 nays. <br />The first item considered was a request for a 20 M.P.H. School Speed Zone on East <br />Houston Street from the East curbline of 31st Street N.E., to the East, to the West <br />curbline of 32nd Street N.E. <br />After discussion Billy Trenado made a motion that the requested school speed zone <br />be approved as requested. Ed Ellis seconded and the motion carried 6 ayes to 0 nays. <br />Next a request for a School Crossing in the 3100 block of East Houston Street at the <br />private road coming from Aikin School was considered. <br />After discussion Ed Ellis made a motion that the requested crossing be recommended. <br />David Gilbert seconded and the motion passed 6 ayes to 0 nays. <br />The third and final item considered was a request for= la- No=Parkin -- Zane -;= on both <br />sides of the street, in the 10 block of W. Long Street from the West curbline of <br />South Main Street, to the West, to the East curbline of 1st Stree-t-S'W. <br />Chief Barnett explained that this request came from Mrs. Joann McGlasson of 1040 S. <br />Main Street, phone number 739 -2617. Their driveway lets out onto W. Long and when <br />vehicles park on this very narrow street they are unable to exit their driveway. <br />The people parking in this area are visiting a house across S. Main and when they <br />try to get them to move their vehicle or vehicles the people become very rude and <br />threatening toward them. The only other exit onto W. Long in this block is from <br />Hodges Garage and the No Parking Zone would not interfere with this exit. <br />After discussion Ed Ellis made a motion that the request be approved. David Gilbert <br />seconded and the motion passed 6 ayes to 0 nays. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 5:28 P.M. <br />James Barnett <br />Assistant Chief of Police <br />
