MINUTES <br />TRAFFIC COMMISSION <br />Tuesday, July 6, 1993 <br />5:15 o'clock P. M. <br />Council Room - City Hall <br />Paris, Texas <br />The Traffic Commission met in regular session Tuesday, July 6, 1993 <br />with the folowing members present: <br />1. Edward Ellis <br />2. Billy Trenado <br />3. Tom Kolko <br />4. Charles Thompson <br />5. Richard Fuller <br />6. Pauline Franklin <br />The meeting was called to order at 5:20 P.M. with Chairman Ed Ellis <br />presiding. <br />The first item of business was the election of a Chaiman. Richard <br />Fuller nominated Billy Trenado. Pauline Franklin seconded and a <br />vote was taken with Trenado elected 6 ayes to 0 nays. <br />Next a Co- Chairman was elected with Charles Thompson nominating Paul- <br />ine Franklin. Richard Fuller seconded and Pauline Franklin was elect- <br />ed by a vote of 6 ayes to 0 nays. <br />Billy Trenado presided for the remainder of the meeting. <br />Agenda Item number one was then considered. This was a request for <br />Stop Signs to be placed on 9th S.E. stopping North and South bound <br />traffic at Woodlawn Street. Assistant Police Chief James Barnett ex- <br />plained that this request came from The Paris Emergency Medical Ser- <br />vice because th use Woodlawn Street leaving their station and some- <br />times have to w7t for traffic on 9th S.E. to make their call. Ed <br />Ellis made a motion that the Stop Signs be placed as requested. Rich- <br />ard Fuller seconded and the motion carried 6 ayes to 0 nays. <br />Next, a request for Stop Signs on Brown Avenue stopping East and West <br />bound traffic at 4th S.W. was considered. This request was made by <br />a resident of the neighborhood after witnessing several problems of <br />vehicles almost having accidents at this intersection. Assistant <br />Chief Barnett said that police records indicated two accidents at the <br />intersection during the past twelve months. Charles Thompson made a <br />motion that these Stop Signs be placed as requested. Pauline Frank- <br />lin seconded and the motion carried 6 ayes to 0 nays. <br />A request for a No Parking Zone on the West side of Stillhouse Road <br />starting 371 feet South of the North City Limit Sign and extending <br />to the South 63 feet was then considered. This request was made by <br />North Lamar School as this property is next to their campus and when <br />vehicles park there the busses have a problem getting to and from <br />the elementary school. Assistant Chief Barnett said that the No Park- <br />ing Zone had been established under the emergency powers of the Chief <br />of Police after he and the City Engineer agreed the No Parking Zone <br />was needed and that an ordinance needed to pass to leave it there. <br />Tom Kolko made a motion that the request be granted. Edward Ellis <br />seconded and the motion carried 6 ayes to 0 nays. <br />There be no further business the meeting adjourned at 5:30 P.M. <br />A es BarneO <br />
