MINUTES <br />TRAFFIC COMMISSION <br />Thursday, September 10, 1992 <br />Special Meeting <br />5:15 o'clock P.M. <br />Council Room - City Hall <br />Paris, Texas <br />The Traffic Commission met in Special Session Thursday, Septermber <br />10, 1992 with the following members present: <br />1. Frank Sherman <br />2. Billy Trenado <br />3. David Gilbert <br />4. Pauline Franklin <br />5. Ed Ellis <br />The City Staff was represented by Assistant Police Chief James Barnett. <br />Chairman Ed Ellis called the meeting to order at 5:15 P.M. <br />The first item of business was to consider a request to One Way Aikin <br />Street from its beginning at the Aikin Elelmentery School property, <br />to the West, to the East curbline of 30th Street N.E. <br />Paul Trull, Assistant Superintendent of Paris Schools, appeared to <br />withdraw their request for the one way street. A lady who owns prop- <br />erty on Aikin Street appeared to oppose making it a one way. Assis- <br />tant Chief Barnett said that after the staff had reviewed the request <br />and considered what it would do to property owners on the street their <br />recommendation was to deny the request. <br />David Gilbert made a motion to deny the request. Pauline Franklin <br />seconded and the motion carried 5 ayes to 0 nays. <br />The next request was for a No Parking Zone on Aikin Street. <br />Paul Trull spoke in favor of part of the street being made no parking <br />in hopes that it would help with the traffic problem at the school <br />during the morning and afternoon. <br />Assistant Chief Barnett reported that the staff recommended a No Park- <br />ing Zone be established on the South side of Aikin Street from 30th <br />N.E. to the school property line. <br />The lady who owned property on Aikin Street said she didn't care if <br />it was No Parking now but asked if it could be brought up again if <br />any houses were built on the street. She was told it could be brought <br />up again at any time. <br />David Gilbert made a motion to recommend the No Parking Zone on the <br />South side of Aikin Street from 30th N.E., East to the school property <br />line. Billy Trenado seconded and the motion carried 5 ayes to 0 nays. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 5:32 P.M. <br />ames Barnett <br />
