MINUTES <br />TRAFFIC COMMISSION <br />Tuesday, November 5, 1991 <br />'6:15 o'clock F.M. <br />Council Room - City Hall <br />Paris, Texas <br />The Traffic Commission met in regular session Tuesday, November 5, 1991, with the <br />following members present: <br />1. Frank Sherman <br />2. Gerald Byas <br />3. Ed Ellis <br />4. Tom Kolko <br />5. Judy Lutz <br />6. Billy Trenado <br />The City Staff was represented by Assistant Police Chief James Barnett. <br />Chairman Ed Ellis called the meeting to order at 5:16 P.M. <br />Then minutes of the August 6, 1991 meeting were approved as submitted. <br />The first item of business was a request for a.Stop Sign to be placed at East Cen- <br />ter Street and 6th Street N.E. stopping Eastbound traffic on Center at 6th N.E. <br />After discussion concerning this intersection being in the fairgrounds and it be- <br />ing where E. Center ends at 6th N.E. and there being large crowds at the area dur- <br />ing the fair and other gatherings Judy Lutz made a motion that the request be grant- <br />ed and the Stop Sign be recommended as requested. Frank Sherman seconded the motion <br />after learning that this request was put on the agenda at the instructions of the <br />Traffic Commission at their August 6, 1991 meeting. A vote was taken and the motion <br />carried 5 ayes to 0 nays. <br />GeralaByas came in and participated in the rest of the meeting. <br />The next items considered was a request for Stop Signs to be placed at 8th Street <br />S.E. and Sycamore Streets, stopping Sycamore at 8th S.E. Chief Barnett told the <br />Commission that the City Traffic Department had checked this intersection and re- <br />ported that there had been no accidents reported at the intersection during the <br />past 12 months and it did not meet any of the warrants for Stop Signs so it was <br />recommended -that this request be denied. <br />After discussion Gerald Byas made a motion to deny the request. Billy Trenado <br />seconded the motion and it carried 6 ayes to 0 nays. <br />Next a request for Stop Signs on 18th S.W. at its intersection with W. Kaufman <br />Street was considered, stopping North and South bound traffic on 18th at Kaufman. <br />Chief Barnett told the commission that the City Traffic Departments report on this <br />intersection revealed no accidents reported in the past 12 months and no other war - <br />rents for Stop Signs were met. It was recommended that the request be denied. <br />After disussion Tom Kolko made a motion to deny the request. Gerald Byas seconded <br />and the motion carried 6 ayes to 0 nays. <br />After discussion of the need for the No Parking Signs to be replaced on Loop 286 <br />and Collegiate Drive near McKee's Restaurant that were taken down for road const- <br />ruction and the need for at least one No Parking Sign between the entrance drives <br />to the restaurant park' g area on Collegiate the meeting was adjourned at 5:40P.M. <br />ames Barnett <br />
