MINUTES <br />TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSION <br />WEDNESDAY, JULY 5, 1978 <br />5:15 O'CLOCK P. M. <br />COUNCIL ROOM - CITY HALL <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />The Traffic Safety Commission of the City of Paris met in regular session, Wednesday, <br />July 5, 1978 at 5:15 P.M. with the following members present: <br />1. Frank Sherman <br />2. Leon Williams <br />3. Harvey Cavendar <br />4. Rev. Julian Hendren <br />5. James McFadden <br />6. Robert White <br />Rev. Hendren moved that Harvey Cavendar serve as temporary chairperson. Leon <br />Williams seconded the motion and it carried unanimously. <br />The Minutes of the June meeting were approved as submitted. <br />After hearing from Bill. Bone, Curtis Finley -St. Joseph's Hospital, Phil Carter - <br />Brookshire's and Ridley Briggs- President of Paris Bank of Texas, Leon Williams moved <br />that the Commission rescind the previous recommendation concerning traffic patterns <br />on Clarksville between 12th and 24th. James McFadden seconded the motion and it <br />carried unanimously. Mr. Williams then moved that the issue be set aside for further <br />study. Mr. McFadden seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. <br />Concerning clarification of "No Truck Traffic" signs previously recommended, Rev. <br />Hendren recommended that "No Through Trucks" signs be placed on Collegiate Drive <br />between Lamar and Clarksville. Leon Williams seconded the motion and it carried <br />unanimously. <br />After hearing from the Traffic Safety Coordinator and the Traffic Technician, Leon <br />Williams recommended that the Commission not take action on the placement of `Stop" <br />signs on the following streets which abut Loop 286: Pine Mill Road, Clement Road, <br />34th N.E., 20th N.E., 30th N.E., Hickory and Ballard Drive. It was the opinion of <br />the Commission that further clarification was in order. Frank Sherman seconded the <br />motion and it carried unanimously. <br />Robert White recommended that the signal crossing light on 24th S.E. be disallowed <br />since it did not satisfy any of the required warrants. Leon Williams seconded the <br />motion and it carried unanimously. <br />There being no further business the Commission adjourned at 7:00 P.M. <br />Mike Koch <br />Administrative Assistant <br />
