M. <br />COUNCIL R00�,1 - CITY HALL <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />The Traffic Safety Commission of the City of Paris met in regular session, <br />Tuesday, August 1, 1978 at 5:15 P.M. with the following members present: <br />I. <br />Frank Sherman <br />5. <br />Rev. Julian Hendren <br />2. <br />Leon Williams <br />6. <br />Nancy Swaim <br />3. <br />Harvey Cavendar <br />7. <br />James McFadden <br />4. <br />Jane Moore <br />8. <br />Robert White <br />The Rev. Julian Hendren was unanimously elected Chairperson. Jane Moore was <br />unanimously elected co- Chairperson. <br />The Minutes of the July meeting were approved as submitted. <br />After reconsidering a previous recommendation concerning traffic patterns on <br />Clarksville between 12th Street and 24th Street, James McFadden made a motion <br />that no changes should be made in regard to present traffic patterns. Jane <br />Moore seconded the motion. The motion carried 4 ayes, 3 nays. McFadden, <br />Moore, Swaim and White voted for; Cavendar, Williams and Sherman, against. <br />This action reversed the previous recommendation made by the Commission which <br />recommended the elimination of the westbound left turn lane on Clarksville, <br />and the creation of two eastbound lanes of traffic and one westbound lane of <br />traffic on Clarksville between 12th and 24th streets. <br />Frank Sherman made a motion that a "STOP" sign be placed on 34th N.W. at <br />Graham for southbound traffic. Leon Williams seconded the motion and it carried <br />unanimously. <br />James McFadden moved that the placement of "STOP" signs on Pine Mill Road at <br />Loop 286, Clement Road at Loop 286, 34th N.E. at Loop 286, 20th N.E. at Loop <br />286, 30th N.E. at Loop 286, Hickory at Loop 286, Ballard Drive at Loop 286 be <br />recommended to the City Council. Leon Williams seconded the motion and it <br />carried unanimously. <br />Harvey Cavendar recommended ti: the consideration of the intersection of <br />Fitzhugh and Clement be tabled I:ntil the next meeting. James McFadden seconded <br />the motion and it carried 5 ayes, 2 nays. Cavendar, Sherman, Williams, McFadden <br />and Moore voted for; White and Swaim voted against. <br />Havey Cavendar made a motion recommending the placement of mandatory turn <br />markings and signs at the following intersections: right turns - North Main at <br />Pine Bluff, Clarksville at 12th (westbound), Bonham at 7th N.J., Lamar at 3rd <br />N.E., Lamar at 20th N.E.; left turns - 12th at Lamar, Clarksville at 12th (west - <br />bound and eastbound). Frank Sherman seconded the motion and it carried unanimously. <br />
