VISITORS & CONVENTION COUNCIL COMMITTEE MEETING <br />January 4, 1989 <br />The Visitors and Convention Council Committee met in Special Session, <br />Wednesday, January 4, 1989, 3:00 P. M., Conference Room, City Hall. <br />Mayor Eric Clifford called the meeting to order with City Manager, <br />Michael E. Malone, and Councilman E.. W. (Bill) Booth present. <br />Mayor Clifford advised that the special meeting was called for the <br />purpose of considering a request of the Visitors and Convention Council <br />of the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce for release of funds from the <br />program reserve account dedicated for the construction of a civic <br />center, to be used for hiring an architect, soil- testing, and other <br />preliminary activities. <br />City Manager Malone told the Committee the Visitors and Convention <br />Council had selected a site for the civic center which is located at <br />Jefferson Road and Collegiate Drive, Denney Architects has been <br />selected for design work, and funds are needed for hiring the <br />architect, soil testing, and other preliminary activities. <br />After discussion, the consensus of the Committee was to authorize <br />release of fund from the program's reserve account for hiring the <br />architect, soil testing, and other preliminary activities. <br />there being no further business, the meeting adjourned. <br />ERIC S.
