Texas Workforce Commission making them aware of the position, <br />and I ask them to refer people to us to interview that are not <br />currently employed by the City. We tell them that we would like to <br />see four, five, six, or eight people. They go through their records <br />based on the qualification that we send on that job notice. They <br />send us how many people that we ask for. We have an interview <br />committee that is normally made of one representative from that <br />department, myself, and Melba Harris. This committee interviews <br />for all non -Civil Service positions. After the interviews are over, the <br />committee comes to a consensus on who the best applicant is, and <br />we make that persona job offer contingent upon on two things. One <br />is they be able to pass a drug screen, and be able to pass a physical <br />exam. If they pass both of those things, we give them a start date <br />and they go to work. Occasionally TWC might not be able to provide <br />us with enough applicants, it doesn't happen very often, but, this <br />past, current year. For example, we have been looking for a lot of <br />people with a Class C License and they could only find two people <br />with a Class C License in their data base. That was not enough <br />because they had more than two positions. We ran an ad in the <br />Paris News, blocked it up so it would get attention for a couple of <br />weeks in a row and asked people to come to City Hall to get an <br />application, fill it out and return it.
