How we try to get applicants, and particularly minority applicants because this is what we are trying to zero in on in particularly in the fire department, because this has been brought up by you and others Council Members in the past. Before the entrance exam, letters are sent out in the minority community, to minsters, churches, and also citizens. We send out letters to predominately minority colleges. Mike NAACP. Haynes NAACP, ads are place in the Black Employment Journal. Locally we place ad in the Paris News, on the radio stations, and on our cable TV. We encourage minority Council Members, such as yourself, to help us in recruiting these candidates, and in our Police Department, I know we go high schools and speak to Criminal Justice classes, and also, I do know that our firefighters have gone before high schools before and given talks about careers in the fire service. We have gone to career days and things like that trying to recruit. I will just give you an example of the last test that we have given for both the police and fire, the last fire test that was given was in December of 1998, December 1St, and these tests are normally are good for one year.
