Graves The police department will be successful because they started way <br />back, but the fire department I think we have serious problem, you <br />know. You can go to colleges and all of that. I don't know what the <br />makeup of your committee is when you go to these places, what the <br />representation is, but it is a mixture of this community when you've <br />got to recruit. <br />Haynes Was that a question. <br />Graves Yes. <br />Haynes There has not been, and that maybe one thing that we need to do. <br />We are looking for suggestions and ideas from all of you. <br />Graves I personally think that is going to be hard around here to actually <br />recruit because you don't have a history of it. The police <br />department is different, they have had one. The fire department has <br />never had one. <br />Steve We have a recruiting deal coming up at Texas A &M University. It is <br />an annual affair. We have to pay to be there, and anybody is <br />welcome to join us. It is coming up in about two or three weeks. <br />Graves Do we have any money budgeted for this. <br />Burgin Not direct. <br />Graves Maybe we need to apply for a grant. <br />Malone A grant. <br />Graves There ought to be a grant out there somewhere since we. I think <br />we've got a problem. It seems like its a concern here for this. I <br />think the Fire Chief is concerned about it. I know he has spoken to <br />me over the years, but I think it is a lost cause, because, number <br />one you are not going to go here, and less face reality, you are not <br />going to go out here and find a black and actually even if he passes <br />it, move into that situation. It is going to be so much pressure on <br />him. <br />
