High Regardless of what you do, it is going to be a battle because there <br />are just not that many minorities applicants out there. In the school <br />business what we run into is the largest school districts, for <br />example now, they are offering up to 5 thousand just to sign. A lot <br />of them will offer like $2,500.00 relocation fee, and get this one. <br />Malone Is that for anybody, or minorities. <br />High It is just for anybody. (All talking atone time) <br />High PISD is offering their recruiting this year one year free rent. <br />Malone Here is your situation, I mean, when you start talking about <br />firefighters, we have over 100 people taking the test. Would it be <br />reasonable, I mean, they are already swarming to take the test, <br />would it reasonable to offer anybody that takes the test money. <br />Fisher No. <br />Malone Would it be reasonable to offer minorities money when you don't <br />offer somebody else. <br />"T _ 1501 <br />Gray Why don't you make an effort to hire a black department head to be <br />over recruitment for everybody. Gene has enough on him, take the <br />recruiting, get rid of what Anderson is doing everything and start <br />over with somebody else. <br />Fisher You need a HR person, but I can say that a black (all talking again). <br />Gray You haven't been fair so far and what you got up here is not fair, and <br />it is not going to be. <br />Malone Well, I don't agree with you about that, but I certainly would look to <br />the committee's recommendations as to how we can improve the <br />attractiveness of the employment and how we can recruit. I think <br />that is what the committee was formed for. I wouldn't agree that it <br />has been unfair. Our problem is that we haven't had applicants. <br />
