1_�_q <br />PARIS PUBLi%_� LIBRARY <br />MINUTES <br />PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MEETING <br />May 20, 1987 <br />PARIS. TEXAS 75460 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session at 4 p.m. <br />May 20, 1987 in the City Hall Annex Conference Room with Vice - Chairman Reeves <br />Hayter. presiding. Present were: Bill Hagood, Beth Shelton, Jackie Alsobrook, <br />Rogene Patterson and Frances Ellis. Robert Pierson, Don Black and Chairman <br />Virginia Gibbs were absent. Tiana Williams and Roslyn Sample of the Library <br />staff, Dick Boots from the City of Paris, and Sue Smith of the Main Street <br />Project also attended. <br />Minutes of the April 15th meeting were approved as circulated. <br />The financial report and Library circulation report were - distributed. <br />Ms. Williams said job descriptions were prepared for two additional requested <br />Clerk II positions. <br />Ms. Williams discussed shelving for the Library stating that these bids <br />had been received: $73,671 from Library Stacks with a 10 -12 week delivery; <br />$82,122 from Library Bureau with a 90 -120 day delivery; $92,368 from Gregg <br />Madison with a one month delivery. Architect Bill Lightfoot will make the final <br />decision, but it is needed soon so the contractor will not fall behind schedule. <br />She displayed samples of finish selections for carpet, flooring, paint and <br />other finishes. The dark blue -green is already up on the north wall of the new <br />area. She displayed a sample panel of wood for the shelving. <br />The Friends of the Library Book Sale and Auction called a "Wine, and Cheese <br />Affair - A Literary Auction Benefiting Your Library" on Sunday, May 31st from <br />7 to 9:30 p.m. at the home of Bob and Sharon Schneider, 3215 Abbott was <br />announced. Auctioneers will be Mary Walker Clark, Sims Norment and Ann Wixon. <br />Each Board member was invited to suggest names to add to the list of 350 being <br />invited. Ms. Williams said 25 cartons of books would be taken to the auction <br />along with non -book items such as the glass bottles found by the contractor <br />during construction. <br />She announced Helen Gies will retire May 31st after 11 years with the Library. <br />Mr. Boots suggested a small plaque be given to her at the auction, and Mrs. Ellis <br />suggested a letter of appreciation be sent from the Board. <br />She said she would send copies of Meeting Room Policies obtained from other <br />Libraries to Board Members for study. Mr. Boots said insurance on exhibits would <br />have to be included in policies, saying $20,000 is the amount for each of the <br />Culberton portraits. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
