MINUTES <br />PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD <br />CALLED MEETING <br />November 3, 1987 <br />The Advisory Board for the Paris Public Library met in special <br />session called by Librarian Tiana Williams, at 4 p.m. in the <br />auditorium November 3, 1987. Vice - Chairman Bill Hagood presided <br />with Beth Shelton, Robert Pierson, Rogene Patterson, Virginia <br />Gibbs, Jean Gibson and Frances Ellis, Secretary attending. Present <br />also were Dick Boots of the City, Ms. Williams and Roslyn Sample, <br />Library Staff. <br />Mr. Pierson moved the Board proceed with a report of the <br />Nominating Committee to fill the vacancy left by resignation of <br />Don Black, Chairman. Motion seconded and passed. <br />Mr. Pierson as Chairman of the Nominating Committee presented <br />the name of Hagood for Chairman, Gibbs for Vice - Chairman and moved <br />acceptance of the report that he and Patterson recommended. Motion <br />was handled by the Secretary, seconded and passed. Shelton moved <br />the nominees be accepted by acclamation, motion seconded and passed. <br />Mrs. Gibbs moved a Resolution be written concerning the contri- <br />bution Dr. Don Black had made to the Library, seconded, discussed <br />and passed. <br />Ms. Williams presented the November 14 Dedication program, <br />asking suggestions for special music if Floyd Weger can not get <br />the Community Band to perform. High School band not available, <br />suggestion was to inquire if First Methodist Jazz Group with Pat <br />Barbee, leader, would perform. Ms. Williams was asked to check. <br />She asked Hagood to assist in Public Relations, appearing <br />with her on television programs about the dedication. <br />Members received their memorial plates of the Library for <br />$25 and were asked to help promote sale of these. <br />Ms. Williams said the Encyclopedia of World Art had arrived <br />and discussed the Encyclopedia of Religion being ordered. <br />Ms. Williams responded to Boots' question as to who was <br />coordinating the program, indicating she would send each member <br />a copy of the program. She asked for help in looking back on <br />Culbertson's statements about the Library when it was dedicated <br />in 1932, and cutting one bolt of rayon material and sewing it <br />together as a long piece of ribbon to go around the building for <br />all visitors to cut with their scissors at the dedication. She <br />listed 14 persons on the platform and members discussed persons <br />to be invited. <br />a <br />
