MINUTES OF THE PARS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY B, .QA RD MEETING - page 2 of 2
April 23, 1986
Mr. Black reported that Pat Bass.ano has written to Lt. Governor
Bill Hobby inviting him to attend the groundbreaking and when he
responds a date can be set for this.
Mr. Hayter discussed the use of the bronze front doors noting
that the bond issue had emphasized the keeping of the old, and he
maintained the doors should be left in use for fear that if the
old building is closed off it might be used for old materials only
and for storage. He believes the walk should be retained with the
doors open for entry but not for exiting.
The Board then discussed the proposed security system to
protect the books from theft and agreed that the magnetic strip in
the spine is most desirable. Cost of this system would be
approximately $35,000.
The Board agreed with Sue Smith's suggestion that it would
be appropriate to hold the groundbreaking as part of'the Bastille
Days celebration.
The meeting adjourned at 5:15 p.m.
Date approved:
Frances Ellis, Secretary
