x <br />r� <br />February 18, 1975 <br />MINUTES CF BOARD MEETING, PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />The Board of Directors for the Paris Public Library met in <br />regular session, February 18, 1975, at 10 a.m. in the Library <br />with Herschel McKinney, Fd_ix Gibson, Dee Cunningham, F. D. <br />Mallory, 1119 Mrs. Marvin Gibbs. Mrs. Glynn Lowe, Ben Marable, <br />Chairman;Mrs. Frank McClure, Mrs. Printis Ellis, Secretary; <br />Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Lawrence, Librarians; and Harold Greene <br />of the City. Absent were Robert Pierson, David Denney, and Dr, <br />Courtney Townsend, <br />Minutes of the January 21 meeting were read and approved <br />as circulated. <br />Gibson Moved financial statement for January be approved <br />as circulated. Motion discussed and passed. <br />Gibson reported March 10 had been set for a meeting of <br />Librarians at Paris Junior College, with time and if a dinner <br />session to be decided. <br />After a discussion of the need to handle the $5000 CD at <br />First Federal by February 28 when it is maturing, Gibson moved <br />that $4000 of the amount be set up in 4 CDs for 30 months to <br />bring 6 and 3/4 percent interest with $1000 set up for a year <br />at 6 1/2 percent, in case the money should be needed. Motion was <br />seconded, discussed and passed. Mrs. Lawrence concurred in the <br />discussion. <br />The Chairman appointed a committee of Mrs. Ellis, Mrs. Lowe, <br />and Mrs. Baker to decide where to plant the Crape Myrtle <br />offered by Mrs. Walter Bassano and to move the one placed by <br />the Garden Study Club in the middle of the lawn. <br />After discussing the figures for new members of the <br />Library - 513 for Paris and 290 for the County during 1974, <br />the Chairman asked about the possibility of the Board members <br />meeting with the Commissioners Court at their April session to <br />ask for county assistance with the Library budget. The Chair- <br />man asked that after the March 10 meeting of Librarians,that <br />the Board members assemble facts and figures to present to the <br />County Commissioners at their April Meeting. <br />The Chairman asked for a discussion of the Long Range <br />study of the Library proposed at the January meeting. A §uggestion <br />was made that perhaps a new Friends of the Library could be <br />organized. <br />Gibson reported Eddie Sanderson was preparing an estimate <br />of cost for repairing plaster and painting interior of the <br />Library. He and Greene showed how another restroom could be <br />built using the storage closet in the office. <br />Meeting adjourned at 11 a.m. <br />Mrs. Printis Ellis, Secretary <br />approved. <br />
