MINUTES OF BOARD MEETING, PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />February 17, 1976 <br />The Board of Directors for the Paris Public Library met in <br />regular session February 17, 1976, in the Library with the <br />Chairman, Ben Marable, presiding. Present were Mrs. Gibbs, Mrs. Lowe, <br />Dee Cunningham, Herschel McKinney, Felix Gibson and David Denney, <br />Librarians Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Finch attended. Harold Greene <br />of the City was present. Board members absent were Mrs. Frank <br />McClure, Mrs. - Prentis Ellis, F. D. Mallory, Dr. C. M. Townsend <br />and Robert Pierson. <br />Minutes of the January 20th meeting were read and corrected, <br />to state that Mrs. Gies had worked 4 months instead of one. <br />Mr. McKinney moved that the last portion of the 5th paragraph <br />regarding board members drawing for terms be deleted. <br />Mr. Marable said Mrs. Gies would be unable to work for <br />4 to 6 weeks due to illness. He asked Mr. Greene and a member <br />of the board to meet with Mrs. Gies about her ability to continue <br />her work.in a full capacity. <br />Mr. Denney moved that Mrs. Baker have the authority to hire a <br />temporary replacement for Mrs. Gies. Board approved. <br />The Wilbor Memorial Fund was read by Mr. Gibson and the balance <br />was of January 31 instead of January 1. The board approved the <br />statement as corrected. <br />Mr. Gibson suggested that we advertize for memorials <br />in both newspapers and said he would check into it. <br />Mr. Cunningham reporting for Mr. Mallory on the committee <br />meeting with Mrs. Hope Waller, stated that she was very helpful. <br />"She agreed to come and work on a plan with us. !She asked for a <br />contract which Brad Hutchison is to draw up. The dead line on <br />her survey is April 1. Mrs. Waller suggested that the number <br />of books bought was based on the number of people served or <br />exposed to the Library, with 15 -20/ of the budget going for books. <br />She also discussed the budget. <br />Mr. Greene read the financial statement for January and it <br />was approved as read. He stated that the new budget should be <br />in by March 1. Mr. Marable appointed a new financial committee <br />headed by Robert Pierson. Also serving are Felix Gibson, Y"D. Mallory, <br />Herschel McKinney. That committee was asked to meet before <br />March 1. <br />Mr. Gibson read an editorial to the board that he had arranged <br />to honor the memory of Mr. J. J. Culbertson. He suggested that <br />we place this in both newspapers on March 16, the date of his <br />birth. The board approved. Mr. Cunningham moved that flowers be <br />placed beneath the portraits of Mr. and Mrs. Culbertson in the <br />Library on March 16. Mrs. Gibbs to be responsible for the <br />flowers. Mr. Denney seconded the motion and it was approved by <br />the board. <br />Meeting adjourned at 11 A. M. <br />
