MINUTES QP BOARD MEETING, PARIS PUB,",1C LIBRARY <br />June 15, 1976 <br />The Board of Directors for the Paris Public Library met in <br />regular session, June 15, 1976 at 10 A.M. in the Library with <br />Robert Pierson, Vice - Chairman, presiding. Present were Dee Cunning- <br />ham, Mrs. Frank McClure, F.D. Mallory, Herschel McKinney, and Mrs. <br />Prentis Ellis. Absent were Ben Marable, Mrs. Glynn Lowe, and Mrs. <br />Marvin Gibbs, David Denney, Felix Gibson, and Dr. C.M. Townsend. <br />Librarians, Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Finch and Harold Greene of the city <br />were also present. <br />Minutes of the May 18 meeting were read and approved. <br />Pierson complimented the Librarians on staying within the City <br />Budget allowance, and they explained the remaining amount in the fund <br />was already spent on books. Mrs. Ellis moved approval of the Wilbor <br />Memorial Fund account, motion was seconded, discussed and passed. <br />Cunningham moved approval of the City account, and it was discussed, <br />and passed. <br />Greene announced City approval of the operating budget for the <br />Library of $48,392.00 from the General Fund with 1510,500 from the <br />Revenue Sharing Fund to spend $10,000 on waterproofing the basement, <br />and $5,000 for book shelving. He also announced City approval of the <br />appointment of Pat Bassano to the Library Board. <br />Cunningham moved approval of the name of Dr. Don Black to be <br />presented to the City Council for approval as a new member of the <br />Board. Motion seconded., discussed and passed. <br />Pierson said Gibson had made arrangements for the July 20 <br />Annual Meeting to be a dinner at the Gordon Country Club at 7 P.M. <br />when guests are welcomes and the City Council and their wives are <br />to be invited. The program would be announced later. <br />Pierson called attention to the ads in the Paris News and the <br />Lamar County Echo, saying they seemed to be resulting in an increase <br />in the number of Memorial books being given to the Library. <br />There were no reports from Cunningham,.Chairman of Personnel <br />Committee; Dr. Townsend, Chairman of Policy Committee; nor Denney, <br />Chairman of Building and Equipment Committee. <br />Mrs. Baker reported 1424 in attendance for the first two weeks <br />of June, with 31 adult new members. lairs. Finch reported the beginning <br />of the Summer Reading Program on June 8 with 200 signed up to date, <br />and 66 new children members.
