MINUTES QP BOARD MEETING, PARIS PUB,",1C LIBRARY June 15, 1976 The Board of Directors for the Paris Public Library met in regular session, June 15, 1976 at 10 A.M. in the Library with Robert Pierson, Vice - Chairman, presiding. Present were Dee Cunning- ham, Mrs. Frank McClure, F.D. Mallory, Herschel McKinney, and Mrs. Prentis Ellis. Absent were Ben Marable, Mrs. Glynn Lowe, and Mrs. Marvin Gibbs, David Denney, Felix Gibson, and Dr. C.M. Townsend. Librarians, Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Finch and Harold Greene of the city were also present. Minutes of the May 18 meeting were read and approved. Pierson complimented the Librarians on staying within the City Budget allowance, and they explained the remaining amount in the fund was already spent on books. Mrs. Ellis moved approval of the Wilbor Memorial Fund account, motion was seconded, discussed and passed. Cunningham moved approval of the City account, and it was discussed, and passed. Greene announced City approval of the operating budget for the Library of $48,392.00 from the General Fund with 1510,500 from the Revenue Sharing Fund to spend $10,000 on waterproofing the basement, and $5,000 for book shelving. He also announced City approval of the appointment of Pat Bassano to the Library Board. Cunningham moved approval of the name of Dr. Don Black to be presented to the City Council for approval as a new member of the Board. Motion seconded., discussed and passed. Pierson said Gibson had made arrangements for the July 20 Annual Meeting to be a dinner at the Gordon Country Club at 7 P.M. when guests are welcomes and the City Council and their wives are to be invited. The program would be announced later. Pierson called attention to the ads in the Paris News and the Lamar County Echo, saying they seemed to be resulting in an increase in the number of Memorial books being given to the Library. There were no reports from Cunningham,.Chairman of Personnel Committee; Dr. Townsend, Chairman of Policy Committee; nor Denney, Chairman of Building and Equipment Committee. Mrs. Baker reported 1424 in attendance for the first two weeks of June, with 31 adult new members. lairs. Finch reported the beginning of the Summer Reading Program on June 8 with 200 signed up to date, and 66 new children members. Members viewed the display and sign - up sheet in the Children's Library.
