PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS' IT STING, DECEMBER 219 1976 <br />The Board of Directors for foie Paris Public Library met at <br />the horse of rir. and nrs. erintis Ullis, December 219 1976 for the <br />regular monthly me:�ting, at 10 a.m. with -he Chairman, i othet Vierson, <br />presiding. Present were Pat Bassano, Felix Gibson, A;rs. Glynn Lowe, <br />Mrs. Marvin Gibs -s �3er. sc;:,�1 17cKin, -1ey, Dr. Don Black, D,-_,.7id Denneyt <br />and Mrs. Printis Llis, Secretary. Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Finch were <br />present, with. Harold Greene of the City. <br />Minutes of the November 23 meeting were read and approved as <br />circulated to <br />of the f 'n­:nci-1 reports for November, <br />McKinney seconded, after discussion, the motion passed. <br />Denney reported repair of the downspout had eliminated water <br />from entering the basement, but discussed needs of studying the <br />water proofing with the $10,000 provided for in the City finances. <br />Greene said other use of the month should be presented to the City <br />Council for approval. <br />Bassano distributed proofs of the new brochure for the Library, <br />which can be printed for $25 for 1000 copies, and asked sug gestions <br />from the group. <br />Gibson moved the Personnel Committee with Dee Cunningham <br />chairman, study the application submitted by a Professional Librarian <br />since provision is made in the budget beginning january 1 for this <br />position. <br />McKinney presented two recommendations: "To the Board: The <br />Paris Public Library become a departmebt of the City of Pa,'is subject <br />to an ordinance acepetable to both the Library Boa -rd and the City <br />Council, and that the City Attorney be directed to prepare this <br />ordinance." <br />To the Board: That a committee be appointed from the present <br />Library Board to work with the Uity staff in preparing this ordinance <br />and that such ordinance be presented to the Library Board for approval <br />before its presentation to the City Council." <br />He moved approval of the recommendation, Ellis moved, and the <br />motion was discussed and pasted. Chairman Pierson asked the Committee <br />with McKinney, Chairman, to assume this reponsibility. <br />Dr. Black moved Mallory be renuested to provide a list of banks <br />in Paris which can handle the $10,000 left in Christine DeShong's will <br />for buying books for the Library, for one year to obtain best interest <br />rates on a monthly basis, so a book a month could be purchased in her <br />memory. Denney seconded, motion was-discussed and passed. <br />Ellis moved with i/icKinney secynding that publicity be given <br />the $10,00 bequest frcm Mrs. DeShong s estate.
