PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />B04:?D OF DIRCCTO:.S' M`",ETING, JANUARY 1,, 1977 <br />The Board of Directors for the Faris Public Library met in <br />regular. session, January 1R, 1977 at the Library at 10 a.m. with <br />the Chairman, Robert Pierson, presiding. .Attending were Felix Gibson, <br />Dee Cunningham, Herschel McKinney, Dr. Don Black, Mrs. Glynn Lowe, <br />Mrs. Marvin „Gibbs, F. D. Mallory, and Mrs.__Printis Ellis, Secretary. <br />Librarians Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Finch, and Harold Greene of the City - <br />were present. <br />Minutes of the December 21, 1976 meeting were read and correctdd, <br />and aprroved. <br />.After a review of the City's financial reco7 °d for the Library, <br />McKinney moved the report be accepted. 1"iotion seconded, discussed <br />and passed. <br />.After a review of the S. W. Wilbor Memorial Fund, Gibson moved <br />names of donors to the fund be listed each month so Board Members <br />could know of citizen interest. Motion discus -ed and passed. Mrs. <br />Finch displayed her records _listing name- and amounts, and said this <br />is- .- Vbought to each Board meeting if members wanted to see it. <br />McKinney reported a first <br />make the Library more of a City <br />was ready for the Committee to <br />and have a committee me -ting in <br />so a called Board meeting could <br />before an earlv presentation to <br />draft of the new City Ordinance to <br />controlled and operated institution, <br />study. He s?id he would duplicate this <br />a few days, and let the Ghairman know <br />handle the necessary recommendat`ons <br />the City Council. <br />Dr. Black moved the $10,000 from the DeShong will be placed at <br />aris Savings and Loan Associal ion for 4 year C.D. to earn as much <br />interest as possible to buy books for the Library in Mrs. DeShong's <br />memory. Motion seconded, discussed and passed. <br />Pierson reported Denney had visited the Library with Mr. <br />Killingsworth to study waterproofing problems. Librarians reported <br />no further water problems since the downspout had been repaired. <br />Chairman expressed need for taking care of this $10,000 item in the <br />City budget for repair of the Library during present fiscal year, <br />Chair-an presented new brochure designed by Pat Bass^no, printed <br />by Swaim's for $25 for the 1000 copies. M, s. Baker said she would <br />call this to the attention of the Welcome t%!agora so they could be using <br />the new brochure instead of the out of date copy.
