PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />BOA' D OF DIRECTORS' MT', `J'TING Jq FEBRUARY 15, 1977 <br />The Board of Directors for the Paris Public Library met in <br />regular session, February 15, at the Library at 10 a.m. with the <br />Vice - Chairman, Y. D. Mallory III, presiding. Present w-;re Pat <br />Bassann Mrs. Marvin Gibbs, Mrs.-Glynn Lowe, and Mr,. Printis Ellis. <br />Harold �r.eene of the City, and Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Finch of the <br />Library were also present. Absent were Dr. Don Black, Dee <br />Cunningham, David Denney, Felix Gibson, Herschel McKinney, and <br />Chairman Robert Pierson. <br />Minutes of the January 18 meeting were discussed but not <br />approved for lack of a quorum. <br />City financial report and the Wilbor Memorial Fund were studied, <br />and discussed. <br />Greene reminded the Board that it was time to get the budget <br />request to the City, and Mallory said this would be done and a <br />special meeting of the Board called to approve. <br />Mallory reported the ?10,000 bequest from the estate of Mrs. <br />Christine DeShong had been deposited at the Faris Savings and Loan <br />Association for six years as a C.D. drawing 7.7516 interest with <br />nuarterly divident checks sent to the Library to buy books. He <br />also reported the two other C.D.s - 116145 and 52419, had been taken <br />to the City's vault for safe keeping. <br />. Mrs. Bker and Mrs. Finch re ported 79023 books distrlbutddiin <br />January, with 134 new members, 1877 persons visiting the Library, <br />and 406 research requests handled by the staff. <br />Print -outs of the January 23, 1977 editorial on the .,10 ,000 <br />gift to the Library by the late Mrs. DeShong were distributed, and <br />Bassano presented a beautifully duplicated copy of the June 2, 1932 <br />Dedication Section when J. J. Culbertson gave the Library to the <br />City. <br />Mallory expressed hope that the Charter change Committee with <br />McKinney, Chairman and the Finance Committee could meet soon so <br />a called meeting of the Board could be held to approve plans. <br />Meeting adjourned at 10:45 a.m. <br />Mrs. Printis Ellis, Secretary <br />Date Approved: <br />
