PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS' MEETING, MARCH 15, 1977 <br />The Board of Directors for the Paris Public Library met in <br />regular session, March 15, at 10 a.m. in the Library with the <br />Chairman, Robert Pierson, presiding. Present were Pat Bassano, <br />Dee Cunningham, Mrs, Printis Ellis, David Denney, Mrs. Margatet <br />Baker and Mrs. Lois Finch of the Library, and Harold Greene of <br />the City. <br />After a look at the financial statements for the City and <br />the Wilbor Memorial Fund, Bassano moved acceptance, motion.secondedg <br />discussed and passed. Greene called attention to the utilities, <br />saying only $35130 remained until June 30, but the account could <br />be balanced from other areas of the budget. <br />Minutes.of the January and February meetings were approved as <br />` read and circulated "to members. <br />Denney, Chairman of Building and Equipment, reported City <br />Council approval to "illingsworth to begin work on the Library <br />building- cleaning, caulking, waterproofing of basement, but not <br />of the basement walls, saying.if future sweating and dampening <br />happens, we could get priority to get repair work done. Purpose <br />of work is to stabilize the soil at the foundation of the building. <br />Money will come from the $100000 permitted from Revenue Sharing, <br />and could also include new doors on the south. <br />Cunningham said the Personnel Committee was waiting on possible <br />City Charter change before proceeding to obtain extra help. <br />Bassano said the Publicity Committee was assisting Mrs. Finch <br />in-getting publicity to take to the state convention in El Paso, <br />April 12 -15. She would meet Jose Cisneros, artist who did drawings <br />for Mr. Neville's book "Red River Valley Then and Now" at El Paso- <br />......and tell him the original sketches hang in the children's reading <br />room. <br />Pearson reported the and - Finance Committee had met to. <br />discuss the budget for 1977 -1978, with the City officials, and would . <br />meet. again after the City finds out figures on retirement for the <br />staff. <br />i• <br />Pearson reported the General Library Policies Committee had <br />met with City staff concerning the to be proposed City Charter <br />change relating to the Library. The form was approved by the <br />Committee to be presented to the Library Board later. <br />Mrs. Baker reported 7059 books distributed.in February; 134 <br />new members, 366 pieces of research assisted, and 2173 persons <br />came to -the Library - comparable to July of 1976, a heavy month. <br />She said Valerie,Sandlin wants to return in June as a Library aide*., <br />Denney reported Mrs. Baker's letter to all organizations got <br />.Rotary Club's interest and a $50.check. He invited members to taktr'. <br />part in'd radio program over KPLT with Jeff MethVyn,•March 16. <br />Meetina adiourned at 11 a.m. � <br />
