David Denny reported that the improvement of the library building <br />ha,s begun. He stated most of the work on the ba,sement for office <br />and lounge space should be completed by next month, and he <br />explained his scheme for improving the return air flow for the <br />heating and cooling system in the front room of the library. <br />Included in the work will be an outide ramp for the handicapped. <br />If there is enough money left, work will be done toward finishing <br />the library attic room. <br />Lois Finch reported that she ha,s talked with Jose Cisneros on <br />the telephone. He did not receive the letter that she wrote to <br />him. However, he said he would like to come to our open- house. <br />April is the best month for him -- the middle or latter part. <br />He requires a, new letter stating exact time and conditions of the <br />trip. The Board unanimously agreed to offer him air fare and to <br />set April 17 a,s the tenta.tive date for the open -house celebration <br />of the library, in conjunction with National Library Week. <br />Virginia, Gibbs ha,s offered to open her home to Mr. Cisneros <br />during his visit. It was agreed that the Board would spend <br />up to $400.00 on this project from the Wilbor Memorial Fund. <br />John Hastings expressed the hope that Jackie Alsobrook would <br />become a, true liaison between the Library Advisory Board and <br />the North:ea,st Texas Library System. Jackie stated that she <br />wa,s in the process of studying the structure and current issues <br />and activities within NETLS. <br />John Hastings announced that he ha.s been appointed to the Legis- <br />lative Committee of the Texas Library Association for two years, <br />to take office immediately following the TLA Annual Conference in <br />April.
