MAIN STREET <br />IPAMS, TEXAS 75460 <br />APRIL 22, 1980 <br />MINUTES OF PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD <br />The Advisory Board for the Paris Public Library met in regular session, April <br />22, 1980 at the Library with Chairman David Denney, presiding. Present were <br />A.M. Aikin, Mrs. Marvin Gibbs, Mrs. Bob Alsobrook, Mrs. Robert Thornburrow, Pat <br />Bassano, and Mrs. Printis Ellis; absent were Robert Pierson and Jerry Stephens. <br />John Hastings also attended. <br />Minutes of the March 18 meeting and the S.W. Wilbor Memorial Fund report were <br />approved. <br />Aikin moved the Board honor Mrs. Lois Finch, just retired from the Children's <br />Library, with a reception at the Library, and that Denney and Hastings work out <br />the details. Motion seconded and passed. <br />Denney reported on the plan for the circulation desk in the main Library area, <br />saying the design is now ready, and a cabinet- making firm is being employed. <br />Aikin moved the policy on Fines and Fees be amended to state an allowable pat- <br />ron debt limit of $2.00 instead of $10.00. Motion seconded, discussed and <br />passed. <br />m Ahabrook report @d a complaint abwt batidlitig Bf the Mmoflal BSSkc §: <br />Hastings requested a Committee be appointed to study and work•on a policy for <br />this. Bassano moved the Committee be appointed and the motion was seconded, <br />discussed and passed. Denney appointed Mrs. Thornburrow as chairman. He also <br />appointed Mrs. Gibbs. Mrs. Baker was named an Advisory Member of the Staff <br />for the Committee. Hastings will gather information from other public libraries <br />to assist in formulating the•policy. <br />Hastings reported 6 sponsors had committed $400 for obtaining custom made book <br />bags with a logo designed by Nancy Plante. With -the Library's $500,• this will <br />provide for a minimum order of 5000. <br />The Librarian reported he had interviewed one person for the position of Child- <br />ren's Librarian since the early retirement of Mrs. Finch. He announced the <br />first draft of the Community Analysis Project,would be presented by consultant <br />Paul Little at the May 20 Board Meeting. <br />Following a report on the last NETLS meeting, Mrs. Alsobrook said she had talked <br />with Senator Aikin about procedure to impress.legislators with the need of raising <br />the 16G per capita .state library development budget :to".$1:Q0.
