PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD <br />Minutes <br />August 19, 1992 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular <br />session, August 19, 1992, at 4 PM in the Gallery with <br />Chairman Bill Neely presiding and these members present: <br />Virginia Gibbs, Jean Gibson, and Rogene Patterson. <br />Beverly Lewis, Library Director; Thomas Seay, NETLS Lay <br />Representative; and Keitt Wood Friends of the Library <br />President attended. The evening circulation continues to average <br />one - hundred items per open evening. <br />A total of 750 items were added to the collection: 416 <br />iuvenile titles and 334 adult titles. <br />There was no report about the Thrashers' recognition <br />exhibit. <br />Chairman Neely reported his research indicated the <br />official status of the Library has always been as a city <br />library and the department was created in 1977 with the <br />Board becoming advisory in the early eighties. Regarding <br />county funding, discussion on this matter will continue at <br />a later meeting. <br />Ms. Lewis reported on the Summer Reading Club just <br />completed. Daily activities were held in June and July <br />and over 1,500 kids participated. 135 qualified as "Super <br />Readers" and received gifts from the generous sponsors: <br />Catfish King, Dairy Queen, Grandys, Long John Silver's, <br />McDonald's, Pizza Inn, Sonic, Taco Delite, and <br />Whataburger. <br />
