Chairman Neely said the Paris Area Arts Alliance would be <br />the sponsoring group, and possibly provide the reception. <br />He asked a committee to work with the Alliance - Mrs. <br />Ellis, Mrs. Gibbs, Mrs. Gibson, and Thomas Seay with Ms. <br />Lewis and Neely. <br />The Board went into Executive Session at 4:21 and back <br />into general session at 4:45. <br />Ms. Lewis said 800 youth had taken part in the Summer <br />Reading Club so far and many had entered the Super Reader <br />Raffle by reading and telling about their books. <br />Mrs. Wood reported that the Friends Newsletter would be <br />out in September promoting membership and that Elizabeth <br />Neumann and Carolyn Morton were assisting. She said plans <br />for the November 3 book review by Jennie Pichanick of <br />Dallas were being completetd. Power of One is the book <br />she will review and the luncheon will be at the Paris Golf <br />and Country Club. <br />Ms. Lewis reported on the 111th annual conference of the <br />American Library Association held recently in San <br />Francisco. She noted volunteers gave 500 hours of service <br />in June. <br />She also discussed the Interlibrary Loan service. Mrs. <br />Alsobrook moved patrons be responsible for the full cost <br />of mailing of the books from the lending library, instead <br />of paying for just the one way postage as has been the <br />requirement. Motion seconded, discussed, and passed. <br />Mrs. Ellis announced she had been invited to participate <br />in an International Communications Consortium, August 6 - <br />23 in St. Petersbury, Kiev, Moscow, and Prague, and would <br />be meeting city officials, journalism departments, and <br />Women's Committees, and would take Library materials to <br />share with them. <br />The meeting adjourned at 5:15 PM. <br />Date Approved Frances Ellis, Secretary <br />
