PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD <br />MINUTES <br />December 16, 1992 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session, <br />December 16, 1992, at 4 PM in the Gallery with Chairman Bill <br />Neely presiding and these members present: Beth Shelton, <br />Vice - Chairman; Jackie Alsobrook, Virginia Gibbs, Bill Hagood, <br />Joe Rex, and Frances Ellis, Secretary. Jean Gibson and Rogene <br />Patterson were absent. Beverly Lewis, Library Director, Thomas <br />Seay, NETLS Lay Representative; and Keitt Wood, President of <br />the Friends, attended. <br />Minutes of the November 25, 1992, meeting were approved as <br />circulated. <br />Ms. Lewis reported the fiscal year budget was on schedule. In <br />the monthly status report, she noted there was a slight <br />decrease from November of last year - 22,878 vs. 24,762. <br />Non -print circulation had the largest decrease. Acquisitions <br />for the month included 250 books, 122 videos, and 32 audios. <br />There were 146 new cardholders. <br />Bill Hagood reported the Janice Hooker $5,000 gift was <br />deposited into the Building Fund to mingle with the Bond Fund <br />which is now about $70,000. He said the Endowment Fund was <br />about $120,000 and it had been invested at 6% by the City <br />Finance Director. <br />Mrs. Ellis reported on the Thrasher Exhibit saying the dates <br />would be January 14, 1993, for J. W. Thrasher to install the <br />eight originial paintings of his and the eight of his father, <br />W. R. Thrasher, and he will place prints in the center on the <br />panels. J. W. will bring additional lighting. The letter of <br />invitation will be sent to the schools soon, inviting them to <br />come Friday, January 15. The Exhibit hours will be: Friday 9AM <br />- 6 PM; Saturday 9 AM - 6 PM; and Sunday 1 - 5 PM with the <br />program at 2:30 PM. <br />Mrs. Thrasher provided a list of out of town people to be <br />invited. Mrs. Ellis and Ms. Lewis designed the invitation to <br />include the announcement that .both artists would give a print <br />for door prizes. She said the exhibit would be dismantled <br />Sunday after 6 PM. <br />The number of hours for security would be 49 at $8.50 per hour. <br />The budget includes $500 from the Library Advisory Board and <br />$200 from the Paris Area Arts Alliance. It is not yet known <br />whether or not there will be a charge to insure the eighteen <br />paintings valued at $112,500. The Paris Area Arts Alliance <br />with Sally Cecil in charge will provide docents for Friday and <br />Saturday. The Chamber of Commerce Visitors and Conventions <br />Committee may mail the invitations. <br />
