PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD
MINUTES
NOVEMBER 25, 1992
The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular
session, November 25, 1992, at 4 PM in the Gallery with
Vice Chairman Beth Shelton presiding and these members
present: Jean Gibson and Rogene Patterson. Absent were
Jackie Alsobrook, Frances Ellis, Virginia Gibbs, Bill
Hagood, Bill Neely, and Joe Rex. Beverly Lewis, Library
Director, and Thomas Seay, NETLS Lay Representative
attended.
The Minutes of the October 21, 1992, meeting were
corrected to note that Rogene Patterson was present. Her
name was left out by the typist.
Ms. Lewis reported that one month into the fiscal year,
the department has expended 9.71% of the funds. The
Statistical Report included a small decrease in
circulation with juvenile materials and videos down.
Reference assistance was up, as was the circulation of
youth and large print materials. In October, 450 items
were added to the collection.
The information handout prepared by Frances Ellis about
the Thrasher Exhibit was distributed and the subject will
be discussed at the next meeting.
Ms. Lewis reported for Friends' President Keitt Wood that
the luncheon was very successful and $950 was earned.
The Endowment Report was distributed and discussion about
it was postponed until the December meeting.
It was decided to hold the December 16 meeting in the
Gallery.
Ms. Lewis reported that December is amnesty month when
patrons may return any overdue item and not be charged a
fine on it. She noted the purpose is to retrieve overdue
materials and get them back into circulation as soon as
possible and that a fine -free month is an excellent way of
achieving that goal.
The meeting adjourned at 4:40 PM.
Date Approved Beverly Lew s, Acting Secretary
